Health Transformations©
- It used to be easy to tell the
difference between food and medicine, but now the line between
the two is blurring. Scientists are taking note of how foods can
aid in building the body’s vital systems in order to promote
health and avoid disease. This innovative program will educate
you about optimum nutrition using the latest therapeutic
knowledge regarding plant-based foods, herbs and behavioral
science. Diana will help you to apply the things you’ve learned
in her class to develop a new healthier way of eating and
living. You’ll also learn strategies for building a “medicine
chest” in your kitchen and healthy shopping and cooking
techniques. Diana’s MHT manual is provided with the program to
augment your knowledge and skills.
Reframing Nutrition is a five-part class designed
to give you a sound foundation of nutrition knowledge to enhance
your understanding of how nutrients work with the body in
building your immune system, cardiovascular system, nervous
system, endocrine system and muscular system. You’ll have a
clearer understanding of how nutrients provide your cells with
the fuel necessary to help build a healthier body.
Reframing Nutrition 1: Traveling Down the Metabolic
Highway -- We’ll look at nutrients on their ‘metabolic
highway’ in your body. You’ll learn how nutrients contribute to
building the body’s systems. Are you fueling or fooling your
body? You’ll learn why certain nutrients are considered more
therapeutic (i.e.: facilitate weight loss, enhance energy and
alertness, decrease bad cholesterol, improve circulation,
decrease the aging of skin, etc) than others.
Reframing Nutrition 2: Carbohydrates Demystified
-- Carbohydrates provide fuel the body. This class will explore
the differences between simple carbohydrates and complex
carbohydrates and how they affect your body for better or for
worse. This class will clear up carbohydrate confusion.
Reframing Nutrition 3:
Amino Awareness -- Amino Acids are critical for developing a
healthy body, but what exactly are they?
Reframing Nutrition 4: Fats That Heal, Fats that Harm
-- We’ve become “fat-phobic” but fat is essential for many of
the body’s systems. While we know that a diet lower in saturated
fat is better, what effects do mono-unsaturated fat or
poly-unsaturated fat have on the body? Why are trans-fatty acids
so bad? In this class we’ll take a look at fat and its role in a
healthy diet.
Reframing Nutrition 5: PHARMACOGNOSY, the Study of
Food as Medicine -- More and more we are hearing news about
foods that may play a key role in keeping disease at bay. While
science works to establish a link between nutritional elements
as disease fighting agents during this class we’ll explore the
health benefits of using certain foods in fighting ailments and
preventing disease.
